Happy Birthday All You Scorpios in My Life

Mom, Abby, Phill, Bevin, Leah, Shawndrew, there are more of you and you know who you are. You are passionate and funny and sexy as hell. You are hard on yourselves, but WOE to he or she that dares to question or impede you in any way. As much as I like to give you all shit for being so stubborn and wonderful, I can't help myself. I am drawn to you like a poor little bunny is drawn to the fake carrot full of dynamite.

You are no vegetable. Happy Birthday all you Scorpio Bitches.

DIE INVASIVES! DIE!!!

One of my new projects is a short documentary currently going by the title "Die, Invasives, Die!!!" It's a film for the Nature Consortium (Buphalo's amazing environmental outfit) specifically documenting the work of their Urban Forest Restoration project with the help of several high-school students from Seattle. My colleagues are all aged 15-17, and we are spending all day every Tuesday & Thursday, plus SOME Saturdays and Fridays working on a short film that will educate and motivate people to get involved without putting them into a coma.

Right now, we are scripting. By the end of the week, we should have logged all existing footage that might be used in the film, developed our first draft, and have a shooting schedule designed for the next few weeks. Wow, we have a lot to do this month. Okay, I have no more time to work on this blog.

How long has your hair been pink?

I have made a vow to update this blog with some of my outstanding exploits. So far, the majority of posts have in some way been about my hair. That is all about to change. Starting tomorrow....

go to foundmemories.org and make a person

After a year of talk and little walk, Marc VonHolzen (world's best collaborator) and I have released the Missing Persons Project, Module One, at the URL foundmemories.org.

Missing Persons explores the mysteries of how we identify others and ourselves, and invites perfect strangers into a storytelling collaboration via original photos that are left in locations throughout Seattle. You don't have to find a photo to look at the project. If you really want to join, let me know and I will pull you in.

Limo Races to fight Leukemia

It didn't end so much as explode. The Limo Races produced by Laura Silverton to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are an annual event where good natured freaks can donate to a great cause while wreaking havoc on Seattle in the form of an "organized" scavenger hunt.

Each team of five shares a limo with one other team. The limos (in 2006 I beleive there were a total of 5 limos/10 teams) tear around the city to followup clues that lead to more clues. "What color is the Circle Line?" might be a clue in Fremont, and you know you must run to Blue C Sushi to find the answer. Photographic evidence of a completed act is required to score points (which are never counted), but really the value of the night is in the crazed half-memories you share with old friends and new. All teams had names and themes. There was Team Lucky Stripe, Team Sexy Bunny, The Dead Elvises, etc. Here's my gang: Team POOR IMPULSE CONTROL, forcing our way into The Red Door for one of the early clues. We're not even hammered, yet. If you want to participate in the Limo Races or just to donate to Laura's ongoing campaign to raise funds to fight Leukemia & Lymphoma, email me or visit Laura's website:

Happy Anchor Day!

March 7 is hereby and shall always be Anchor Day. It was on this day that the ancient doctors of Swedish Hospital, in their great wisdom, would have induced the labor of Odessa Anchor Belisle Exworthy, had she not seen fit to finally squeeze her way out of Brit's belly just two days prior.

On Anchor Day, you curse like a sailor, but smile like a newscaster. Anchor Day is a good day to feel sorry for yourself, even though you are perfectly healthy and surrounded by people who love you. Look at Odessa...already fighting with the world. I love her.

Art Star Phototographer/Rocker Night at The Sunset Tavern

Yes, I did win in the category of "Artist's Choice." I won THIRD out of four finalists because the first two weren't there anymore by the time prizes were awarded. Of course, Cal and Stacia, the kids running the contest, assured me that my picture was thier REAL favorite. But I honestly liked being third. I got up on stage and thanked my bizarre friends, who make all of my better photographs possible, and accepted the award on behalf of all third-placers, who are able to walk away with the prize because they showed up.

Here's to showing up!
